Project Description
Former Ireland international Keith Andrews hosted eir Sport’s coverage of the Champions League game between Tottenham and Dortmund.
Keith, who won 35 caps for Ireland and was part of Giovanni Trapattoni’s squad for Euro 2012 was interviewed by eir Sport and asked about his new career as a presenter.
You make your eir Sport presenting debut on Wednesday for Spurs’ Group H game against Dortmund. How have you found rehearsals, and how much of a change will it be to go from pundit to presenter?
“It it something different, but something I have wanted to do for some time.
“Even when I have been in the pundit chair, I have been keeping mental notes on what different presenters do, and how it all works with the director and the floor manager.
“I have been in the studio quite a few times over the summer, everybody has been very helpful, and I can’t wait to get going.”
What will be your style?
“I don’t want to be an out-and-out presenter. I want to be me, in the presenting chair. Now, what exactly that will be, I am not sure at the moment, as I am only starting out.
“But I have looked back on my work as a pundit and tried to critique my work. What could I have done better, how do I carry myself?
“In terms of presenting, I am looking to do that too.”
Your studio guests on Wednesday will be your friends, and former Ireland colleagues, Kenny Cunningham and Shay Given. Will that be a help or a hindrance to you?
“I will tell you at 10.30pm on Wednesday! But it will good to work with people in whose company I feel comfortable.
“I think it will be better than making my debut with someone I had never met before, or someone I had half to look after.”
